had anything like a circular of this description in our possession
we could take it out at once and show it to the public instead of
wasting time arguing with them that they were not entitled to
receipts. After that Circular was out it came to me first: I at
once went into Mr. Nisbet and pointed out the difficulty of carry-
-ing out the Circular in connection with search fees in Company
matters and he suggested that in such cases the cash had better
be taken by the clerk in charge of the search and handed with a slip of paper to the messenger who would take it to the shroff for
the latter to receive it. Ly report coupled with Mr. Fletcher's
report might have forced br. Nisbet to issue the Circular. In the Registry I was not the only clerk who handled cash but all the
clerks from lat. to 4th. handled cash money with the cognizance of
the Registrar in large sums and often messengers took cash money
in large sums from Registrar to Shroff.
The Registrar often sent cash money received by him with the
letters from Solicitors to me: these were monies for fees payable
in stamps and sent by Solicitors concerned in cash, by mistake.
The Registrar knew I was receiving fees pa, able on declara-
-tions in Printers and Publishers matters in cash and I often
book cash monies in his office from respectable persons to whom
he was attending.
